Authorities give update on recovery, investigation of Marine Corps plane crash

Julian Kevianne, 31, a Marine sergeant from Detroit, was among the 16 people killed Monday when a US military plane crashed in MS, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Marine Corps said the aircraft was from Marine Aerial Refueling and Transport Squadron 452, Marine Air Group 49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve.

The plane eventually crashed 85 miles north of Jackson in the Mississippi Delta. "They said his plane went down, and they weren't able to find him".

Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks told The Associated Press that officials were still searching for bodies after nightfall. The flight originated at an air station in Cherry Point, N.C.

Military officials said they planned to release the names of the victims at a news briefing Wednesday. It was a KC-130T from Marine Aerial Refueling and Transport Squadron (VMGR) 452, Marine Air Group-49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve based out of NY.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents joined military investigators, though Aranda told reporters no foul play was suspected. Anyone who happens to find debris or something they believe may be related to the crash should call authorities at 1-800-ATF-GUNS.

Senior police official killed in Pakistan blast
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing in Chaman, which is near the Afghan border town of Spin Boldak. Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar has condemned the blast and asked the authorities to present report of explosion.

"You looked up and you saw the plane twirling around", he said. It can be configured to refuel aircraft in midair in addition to being a general goal cargo and personnel transport. "It was spinning down".

However, by the time Jones and other people reached the site, the fire was burning with a lot of intensity, which prevented people from approaching the wreckage.

Jones explained that the plane crashed behind some trees in the soybean field. "It sounded like a big thunderstorm", Nobile said.

The Marine Corps said personal weapons and small-arms ammunition were aboard.
