BCCI announces team for Sri Lanka test; Rohit, Rahul return

Rohit missed India's last Test series against Australia due to injury but he makes a return into the Test squad after proving his fitness and performing really well in the Champions Trophy 2017 in June.

Hardik Pandya has been included in India's squad for the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka while Rohit Sharma returned in place of Karun Nair. Ishant Sharma too is retained given his show the last time Indian toured Sri Lanka.

It was a long home series the team had played since June 2016. He was rested for the limited overs away series against West Indies.

India, who are now in the West Indies, playing their last match on the tour, a one-off T20I against the hosts, are set to play a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka, beginning on July 26. Nair hasn't been amongst the runs since his epic knock in Chennai previous year and was chosen as the skipper of India A for the series in South Africa.

Pandya included in Test squad for Sri Lanka tour

Team India had won a three-Test series 2-1 on their last tour to Sri Lanka in 2015.

KL Rahul, who has completed his rehabilitation after an injury, will be playing his first worldwide match since the fourth Test against Australia in March.

Allrounder Hardik Pandya, who was left out for the final two Tests against Australia with a shoulder injury, is back in the squad, and so is Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund.

Bowling duties will be shared by Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami. The three-match series will be followed by five ODIs and one T20 global. The three Test matches will be played at Galle, Colombo and Kandy, respectively.
