Hawks will not match Knicks offer sheet to Tim Hardaway Jr

Atlanta will decline its right to match the Knicks' offer and allow Hardaway Jr.to re-sign with his former team, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Wizards had until 11:59 p.m. Saturday to to match the Nets' offer.

Hardaway averaged 14.5 points per game last season, providing a much needed spark for Atlanta's sometimes anemic offense.

The decision allows the 25-year-old Hardaway to return to NY on a four-year, $71 million deal, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hardaway's contract includes a 15 percent trade kicker, meaning the Knicks will be forced to pay an extra 15 percent of any remaining salary on his deal, making that the poison pill and absolute deal-breaker for Atlanta. If it happened again, Porter, 24, would return to Washington, which won 49 games last season and appeared to be emerging as a contender in the Eastern Conference.
