Today: Partly cloudy, warmer and turning a bit more humid by evening.

Friday has been declared a First Alert Day, as rain overspreads the region from southwest to northeast. The storms will be most widespread north and west of Boston, with a better chance of avoiding the storms the farther south and east you go. It'll be another mild, muggy night with lows near 70. Not everyone will get wet today, with the rain chance at 40%. Dew point temperatures will be in the 60s and lower 70s and that means it will be an uncomfortable day outdoors. Friday's temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 80s, but many locations will make it to near 90 or the low 90s Sunday. An approaching cold front, combined with the heat and humidity will trigger scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Sunday, a few isolated storms will again pop randomly around the state.

The warm days of early July should persist at least through Independence Day. Despite these rain chances, we are still expecting a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the lower 90s both days.

Models are coming into agreement that we could see a toasty second half of next week with tons of sun and highs in the 90s. here comes summer weather!
