Lakers' Brandon Ingram to miss rest of Summer League with leg cramps

In the lead up to the NBA Draft in June, there was some increasing intrigue over whether the Los Angeles Lakers would take a player other than Lonzo Ball with the second pick. Most are rusty and probably a bit nervous, so let's not look too much into a rookie's debut. In the Lakers' 96-93 loss to the Clippers on Friday at Thomas & Mack Center, Ball was held to five points, while shooting 2 for 15 from the field (1 for 11 from 3-point range). To make matters worse, the infamous Lavar Ball was on the ESPN telecast bragging about his son's play, saying he would win Rookie of the Year and take the Lakers to the playoffs.

"I'll tell you want he can do", LaVar went on. "That's what I like about this right here".

The night started out well for Ball, as less than 30 second into the game, he threw a gorgeous lob from well beyond the 3-point arc to Brandon Ingram for an alley-oop dunk. He finished with five points, five assists, four rebounds and three turnovers. Since Lonzo shot so poorly from the perimeter, defenders went under screens daring him to shoot.

The atmosphere in Las Vegas was electric, as fans donned jerseys of Ball, Ingram, Kobe Bryant and Jerry West. Lakers president Magic Johnson, GM Rob Pelinka and coach Luke Walton were all in attendance. Clippers superfan, Clipper Darrell, shouted at him "Your daddy can't help you now".

"He's a leader on the court", Ivica Zubac didn't seem at all deterred by Ball's bad shooting night. As long as you go 1-for-1 for the game victor. It's easy to play with him. "That first half you can really see what you can do".

Chris Gayle to make T-20 comeback against India
The West Indies are now involved in a five-match ODI series against India and trail 2-1 going into the final match on Thursday. Apart from Gayle, the Caribbean side has also sought the services of Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard .

Zubac, who took blame for the defeat, added about Ball, "He just had a bad shooting night. He caught it. That's a good way to start the game". Rondo, recently waived by the Chicago Bulls, could be willing to sign the one-year deal the Lakers are offering players this year. The 2016 no. 2 pick attacked the basket to take game-high honors in scoring and also contributed three assists and three steals.

Ingram sustained his cramps on the final shot of regulation.

While the shots weren't falling, Morrow wasn't overly concerned with that aspect of Ball's game and endorsed the 19-year-old.

Ball tried a couple of times to tie the game in overtime but bricked his shots.
