Maryland AG: 'Election Integrity' Commission's Request Is 'Repugnant'

A request for detailed information about every voter in the USA from President Donald Trump's voting commission is getting a rocky reception in the states.

The commission wants all 50 states to produce voter information including names, birth dates, political party affiliations, the last four digits of their Social Security numbers and who they have voted for over the past decade.

Administrator of the Maryland State Board of Elections Linda Lamone said in a July 3 letter that sharing access to Maryland's voter registration lists and other information requested by the commission is prohibited by state law.

In that request, it was stated any information provided would become available to the public.

The Maricopa County Recorder says county voters' information will not be released to a new federal commission.

The commission is the result of an executive order signed by Trump in May, with Vice President Mike Pence as chairman and Kobach, a controversial politician who has overseen the implementation of some of the nation's harshest voting laws. He bases his decision on a long-standing, consistent belief that voter's private information including social security number, mother's maiden name and date of birth should be vigorously protected by states.

"I denied the Obama Justice Department's request and I'm denying President Trump's Commission's request because they are both politically motivated", Schedler said in a prepared statement.

A spokesperson for Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan told KTAR in an email she has not received the commission's letter.

Jealous used the issue as an opportunity to accuse Republican Gov.

Trump established the commission in an effort to combat voter fraud the president alleged during the 2016 Presidential Campaign. He noted that several other state leaders have already rebuffed the commission's request.

But a comprehensive review of MI voting data by the conservative Anderson Economic Group revealed no widespread voter fraud, a point Johnson has repeatedly echoed.

"We'll see what the law requires us to provide and not to provide", Whitmire said.

The response came from Democratic Attorney General Brian Frosh, rather than Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican.

"We understand concerns about voters' privacy".

Experts who study voter fraud agree that it's rare.
