Trump asked White House staffers for feedback on 'Morning Joe' tweets

The Times issued a statement in 2015 in which the paper said it was "outrageous" that Trump "would ridicule the appearance of one of our reporters".

The president's stream of insults has pained politicians from both parties who have appealed to him, without apparent success, to stop the 140-character bursts of character attacks and focus on running the country. I don't know what they have.

They said Trump was lying about Brzezinski having a face-lift, although "she did have a little skin under her chin tweaked". I have no bandwidth to even slightly be concerned about a tweet from Donald Trump.

The Enquirer story published in June involved the personal lives of Scarborough and Brzezinski, who are engaged to be married. I can't help but think about that Cabinet meeting earlier this month in which the top officials of our government, one by one, obsequiously told Trump what a "privilege" and a "blessing" it was to serve him.

Watched low rated @Morning_Joe for first time in long time.

Williams objected to the comparison, saying that criticism from Brzezinski and Scarborough didn't have the same import as that from the president of the United States. The calls kept coming and kept coming.

On their MSNBC show, Brzezinski and Scarborough elaborated.

Which of course will put more strain on the state's already fragile finances. "The fight about the other stuff can come later". The House will be back in session on Saturday where they are expected to finally vote on the spending plan and tax hike bill.

Trump is friends with David Pecker (pictured with wife Karen and three Playboy bunnies), who is chief executive of the Enquirer's parent company.

The National Enquirer did run a story about their relationship on June 5, 2017, nearly a month after they confirmed their engagement and dished about their love story to Vanity Fair. He tweeted in part, quote, "he called me to stop a National Enquirer article". I mean, in a way where they call him insane every day. "Yet another lie. I have texts from your top aides and phone records".

SIEGEL: Well, let's take the scenario that Scarborough and Brzezinski described, which was that people at the White House, at least, felt that Donald Trump had enough sway with the National Enquirer that he could get them to spike a story.

When asked about Trump's initial tweets during a House Republican news conference Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan responded, "Obviously I don't see that as an appropriate comment".

Trump's coarse outburst against journalist Mika Brzezinski-the latest salvo in his ongoing war with the media-sparked a major backlash, as well as stern condemnation from within his own Republican party.

Lewandowski said President Trump is still the "counter-puncher" he has always been with respect to the mainstream media.

There was no immediate comment from the National Enquirer, a tabloid that specialises in scandalous stories about celebrities and has been supportive of Mr Trump. "We have no knowledge of any discussions between the White House and Joe and Mika about our story, and absolutely no involvement in those discussions". "They never have", Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer said.
