Gamescom 2017: Assassin's Creed/Final Fantasy XV Crossover Announced

Indeed, Square Enix's popular RPG is getting a free Assassin's Creed-related timed expansion due 29th August and lasting through 31st Jan, 2018. There's a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn't be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other's work. If you have obtained the Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event, Noctis will be able to sport a very familiar set of Assassin's garb on August 30th. The full Assassin's Festival DLC comes a day later, with even more themed items and outfits.

Discussions on this collaboration began almost three years ago at the Tokyo Game Show, and Easter eggs referencing this partnership were included in the FFXV trailer from November 2016, the Assassin's Creed Origins announcement trailer, and the Origins gamescom trailer. To celebrate this upcoming event, a video was released on the Final Fantasy XV YouTube channel.

The partnership also debuted with a new piece of artwork featuring Origins' Bayek and Final Fantasy XV's Noctis, which was available for attendees at Gamescom 2017.

The team-up between the "Assassin's Creed" and "Final Fantasy XV" devs reportedly started three years ago after a chance meeting at the Tokyo Game Show. The pack features content from the Assassins Creed franchise. Easter eggs found throughout the Assassin's Creed Origins announcement trailer and Origins' gamescom trailer, however, feature shout outs to Final Fantasy, and a November trailer for Final Fantasy 15 also has an Assassin's Creed reference, according to Ubisoft.

Final Fantasy XV's big week of announcements keeps on delivering, and this time it's a cross over that not many (if any) could have predicted.

At Gamescom, Final Fantasy XV's director told IGN that the recently announced mobile version of the game has "a chance" of coming to the Nintendo Switch.
