Police in New York City are searching for a man who they say robbed a towing company last week. She warned them that he may try to run from them, so a second officer went around the back of the home as Nguyen headed to a rear bedroom, where the man was barricaded. Two other shots hit his bulletproof vest.

The officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

When officers entered the building, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and recovered a semiautomatic weapon and a revolver, along with ammunition. "He was even trying to make light of the situation", Mayor Bill de Blasio said as he spoke to reporters at the hospital Thursday night, USA Today reported.

The 29-year-old suspect's mother had called 911, reporting that her son was emotionally disturbed.
