Paul Merson reveals prediction for Arsenal v Leicester City season opener

Arsenal erased a pair of deficits to open the Premier League season with a thrilling 4-3 win over Leicester City at the Emirates on Friday night.

Record signing Alexander Lacazette opened his account within two minutes of the kick-off, but the home side's lead was nearly immediately rubbed out as Shinji Okazaki equalised minutes later before Jamie Vardy put the visitors in front after half an hour.

Jamie Vardy put the visitors ahead from Marc Albrighton's cross on the half-hour mark, only for Danny Welbeck to strike level on half-time.

It may not be the role the Frenchman wants but he reinforced his position as the Premier League's top impact player with his late victor for Arsenal in Friday's 4-3 thriller with Leicester.

But he's likely to start from the bench because of an ankle issue.

Wenger said he gave Giroud the option to leave for another club this summer in search of more regular playing time but was thrilled when the striker made a decision to stay.

Arsenal fans would love these two to help win them the 2017/18 Premier League title, but to see them continue their conversations on a regular TV show could be just as entertaining.

But Leicester is in a battle to hold onto their top stars just like Arsenal - Riyad Mahrez has been the subject of multiple bids this summer and could leave before the transfer window shuts.

If the Premier League this season is going to be a case of start as you mean to go on, we're in for a treat.

One player the Frenchman is backing to adapt to the Premier League quickly is Arsenal's other new summer signing, Sead Kolasinac.

Arsenal regained their footing and Welbeck had a number of chances go missing, first seeing his shot blocked after a fine one-two with Elneny, before showing good control to take the ball to the endline, but his cut-back pass could not find anyone.

"Going forward and character wise we have been great. I know how important he is not only as a player but also in the group".

Shinji Okazaki heads in the equaliser from close range.

Leicester: Schmeichel; Simpson, Morgan, Maguire, Fuchs; Mahrez, James (Iheanacho, min. 82), Ndidi, Albrighton (Gray, min. 88); Okazaki (Amartey, min. 72), Vardy.
