Latest UN figures estimate that nearly 90,000 Rohingya refugees have fled to Bangladesh while the Myanmar authorities have evacuated over 11,000 people belonging to other ethnic minority communities living in northern Rakhine State.

Suu Kyi is under mounting worldwide pressure to stop the alleged human rights violations against the Rohingyas, who are denied citizenship in Myanmar. They are also among the world's most neglected persecuted ethnic groups.
