During a press conference Monday, the Hampden County District Attorney said DNA testing and analysis confirmed Schara was their suspect.

An arrest has been made in the decades-old murder of a teacher's aid from Agawam.

For the last 25 years, a joint investigation into Ziegert's murder has been conducted by the Agawam Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory and the FBI. A medical examiner determined that she had been raped and stabbed.

On April 15, 1992, Ziegert was kidnapped from Brittany Card & Gift Shoppe where she worked. Her body was found in a wooded area 4 miles away four days later.

The next day, a clerk arrived to find the store open, with its lights on, and Lisa's auto parked where it had been the previous evening.

When police tried to speak to Schara, they learned that he had fled to CT, and had been hospitalized there following a suicide attempt.
