Manchester United to bid £92m for Arsenal target Thomas Lemar

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has revealed the club were able to turn down Arsenal's deadline day bid of £92 million for Thomas Lemar due to their strong financial position.

Manchester United will reportedly join the race for Monaco's Thomas Lemar in January.

"In 2015 we had to sell in order to meet [financial fair play] conditions, so it was more of an obligation. You've got to accept the risk, and it's by taking risks that we have got here".

Lemar has already seen Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva depart from the Monaco side that won Ligue 1 last season.

Those sales have brought in an estimated €327m in funds to the club.

The Gunners had a British record £92m bid accepted by the Ligue 1 champions, only for the 21-year-old to reject the move to the Emirates, with reports suggesting he didn't want to make such a big move with so little time, and while on worldwide duty.

Currently, he's scheduled to make just $1.802 million, a bargain for the Rams but a pittance for a player of Donald's caliber. He was named 2014 AP Defensive Rookie of the year, and has been a Pro Bowl selection in each of his first three years.

He said the people associated closely with the government were involved in multi-crore chit fund and mining scams. But, we are not getting the state's required support to take up the developmental projects.

"So what? We are not looking for records", Vasilyev said when asked about why Lemar and Fabinho were denied summer moves, as quoted by the Express.

"Sales, they are the outcome of having a great season, the league title, a great manager and an excellent recruitment cell and scouting network", Vasilyev continued.

"We don't want records". And today, we've managed it.

Monaco are open to selling Lemar - who dazzled for France against the Netherlands - at a certain price, and adding a player blossoming with creative zeal and a capacity to penetrate defences nods towards the direction United are moving in under Mourinho.
