Arsenal jump into top four with late win at Burnley

Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal will proceed with a renewed sense of confidence following their late 1-0 victory at Burnley.

It was a repeat of last season's meeting between the sides at the Emirates Stadium, when Chilean Sanchez slotted in a 98th-minute spot-kick to win the game.

And Wenger moved to play down the significance of the Gunners moving back into the top four on Sunday afternoon.

"It looked from the outside like a clear penalty", said the Frenchman.

"For me they need to back up what they did against Tottenham the other day".

He was quick to stand firm in defence of Ramsey too, insisting the player's instinct was to play the ball, not the percentages.

"[Ramsey] didn't throw himself on the ground". He said he wanted to go back and flick on the ball.

The Burnley boss accepted it was a spot kick but seemed keen to draw in wider, historical grievances. "I thought it was highly unlikely the penalty wasn't going to get given, at that stage, I think you can all make your conclusions from that, working backwards", the Burnley manager fumed.

"It's a unusual one but c'est la vie".

"It's easier for everyone on the pitch when we work together and then afterwards we have the quality to get forward and create opportunities to score".

"We've had a lot not given when it's been similar".

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has suggested that the late win over Burnley on Sunday was "more" important than beating Tottenham in the north London derby clash last weekend.
