Impossible for City to finish season unbeaten, says Guardiola

With a 12th victory in 13 games, Pep Guardiola's City have made the best ever start to a Premier League season and lead second-placed rivals Manchester United by eight points.

On the south coast, Dusan Tadic gave Southampton a deserved lead with a neat finish in the 18th minute before Everton equalised when Gylfi Sigurdsson's long-range effort went in despite hitting the crossbar twice and the post once. So, the gaps are nearly impossible but we found them, most of the time, and that's why I'm so, so pleased.

However, Man City equalised through a Sergio Aguero penalty and, with just six minutes left of the game, struck the victor through a lucky Raheem Sterling deflection.

"In the dressing room, we talked about getting something out of the game". That is so important because when you win sometimes other people are happier but that is not reality in the high level of sport.

Manchester City came up against Huddersfield twice last season - the Terriers held them to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup fifth round, however, lost 5-1 in the Etihad Stadium replay. We played against a tough team and winter has come, but we did it and now we can continue.

"They are two different games and you have the handle it depending on how they play the game. Set pieces, long balls, second balls, this type of game - we have to handle that".

City posses an attacking arsenal few sides in world football can match, but it is perhaps the form of their rejuvenated England winger Raheem Sterling that will please Guardiola most.

"It's not just about how many goals he scores or how many chances he creates", Guardiola said. "I am impressed but he is still 22 years old, he can do a lot of things to improve and if he wants to learn we will be there to help him".
