Michael Fallon Resigns As Defence Secretary

Britain's prime minister Theresa May just appointed a lawmaker with no military or diplomatic experience as defense secretary after Sir Michael Fallon's resignation following sexual-harassment allegations.

Williamson's appointment comes the day after longtime lawmaker Fallon resigned over allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Fallon apologised on Monday for touching a radio presenter's knee in 2002 - something the woman in question described on social media as "mildly amusing".

"Many of these have been false, but I realise that in the past I have fallen below the high standards that we require of the armed forces which I have the privilege to represent".
