Authorities say that the deputy was outside his squad auto shortly after midnight on Thursday preparing to deploy what are called "stop sticks" created to deflate vehicles' tires at an intersection in Brandon Township when he was struck by the fleeing suspect's vehicle.

It then entered Oakland County into Brandon Township.

Christopher Berak was arraigned Saturday on charges of first-degree homicide and murder of a peace officer.

Authorities say 50-year-old Oakland County Deputy Eric Overall was outside his squad auto after midnight Thursday preparing to deploy "stop sticks" created to deflate vehicles' tires at a Brandon Township intersection when he was hit by Berak's vehicle.

On Saturday afternoon during his arraignment, Berak was denied bond.
