He said he would not have banned the LeT group if he had known more about Saeed.

Recently released Jamaatud Dawa (JD) chief Hafiz Saeed said that India is violating the global human rights laws using "chemical weapons" against Kashmiris to suppress their freedom struggle.

Musharraf said he had banned LeT in 2002 because the situation was different then. The office of the ombudsperson of the Security Council's 1267 Committee says there is one case pending with the committee, besides that of Hafiz Saeed.

In an interview to Pakistani TV channel ARY News, Musharraf, who is now in exile in Dubai, said: "I am the biggest supporter of LeT and I know they like me and JuD (Jamaat-ud-Dawa) also likes me".

NEWLY freed Pakistani Isla-mist Hafiz Saeed, who has a $10 million USA bounty on his head, spoke at last Friday's (24) prayers in a mosque in Lahore after being freed from house arrest by a court that said there was no evidence to hold him. Lashkar-e-Taiba are involved in Kashmir but in Kashmir it is between us and India. India got them declared as terrorists by partnering with the United States. Musharraf claimed Saeed was not involved in the Mumbai terror attack in 2008 because Saeed "himself denied the charges" of being the attacks' mastermind. Only yesterday, the LeT chief moved the United Nations seeking removal of his name from the list of designated terrorists. "Saeed was the mastermind behind the Mumbai attack that killed hundreds, including 6 Americans".

The declaration of support for LeT, Jamaatud Dawa and its chief Hafiz Saeed, who was recently released from house arrest, was made during a discussion pertaining to Musharraf "s recently announced 23-party 'grand alliance" on a private TV channel programme.

Saeed was placed under house arrest in January while Sharif was still prime minister, a move that drew praise from India, long furious at Saeed's continued freedom in Pakistan.
