Congress attacks Modi over internal democracy in BJP

As the Congress embraces "soft" Hindutva in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to the Muslim community of the state. Talking about the liberalisation reforms of the 1990s, Jaitley said that the reforms "were taken under compulsion", he added that the reforms under the Modi government are taken "by conviction". Addressing a rally in Gujarat's Surendranagar district, PM Modi said the party has a track record of not adhering to decisions taken within its bodies. Jaitley asked, referring to the Congress.

"Modiji, do tell Gujarat and country about the victims of yours and Amit Shah's internal democracy in BJP, namely - Lal Krishan Advani, Keshubhai Patel, Hiren Pandya, Kanshiram Rana, Anandiben Patel, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sanjay Joshi, who were compulsorily lost in pages of history". It was the Congress which made the nation a prison.

Union minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jailtey on Saturday asserted his party's "Hindutva" roots and said those parading their newfound Hindu piety were nothing but "clones".
