Google launches two-wheeler mode in Google Maps for India

Google Maps India has reduced the agony of its avid users who commute on bikes and scooters by launching the all-new, 'Two-Wheeler, ' mode on Tuesday.

When Waze said they were now going to include motorcycle routes in their navigation app, we knew it was only a matter of time before parent company Google did the same for Google Maps of course.

As pointed out in screenshots provided by Android Police, this mode cuts off a few minutes off of shorter rides, and up to an hour off of longer ones.

This is an 'India First, ' launch by Google since the US-based multinational tech giant believes that India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world. Google announced the new feature during an event in Delhi; which other countries are slated to get the additional routing option isn't clear, nor when the feature will expand to them. The service now displays routes specifically tailored for two-wheelers when you look up destinations around you. It also provides customized traffic and arrival time estimations to these vehicles.

Two-wheeler mode in Maps will show trip routes that use "shortcuts" which are not accessible to cars and trucks. Also, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has recently commented about India playing an important role in improving Google Maps and other Google products. It also gives data about the parking situation at their destination, a convenient component that was beforehand found in the auto mode.

"We don't adapt maps for India". Since Indian roads are dominated by the two-wheelers and there are certain routes which can only accommodate them instead of cars, a feature like this is of great help to the two-wheeler commuters of the county.
