Google Maps' New Feature Will Change The Way We Commute Forever

There is a significant difference in the estimated travel time (ETA) for the motorcycle mode of travel in Google Maps compared to any other mode. The new update might be a small one, but is really essential in a person's journey.

Google has been testing real-time notifications for transit journeys, according to TechCrunch.

Whether you're prone to a little nap on your morning commute, or are exploring a new city and not sure when to disembark, this forthcoming Google Maps update is great news. These updates will appear within the app when you have it open as well as on the lock screen during your trip.

The idea isn't really new actually.

To get started, you need to enter where you want to go, and then you can choose a "Start" button that will appear at the bottom of the screen. So as you travel on your local buses and trains, you'll get live updates on how the journey is progressing and where you actually are. This will become more useful if you're riding a train or bus.

The update comes just two weeks after Google announced at its recent event that it was going for two-wheeler customised navigation on Google Maps- under it, two-wheeler drivers will get the fastest route to reach their destination.

The information can also be shown on the notifications. The notifications are interactive, means you can scroll right through your journey's steps.

An update will soon roll out to Google Maps that will alert users when their stop on public transport is coming up, according to TechCrunch.

Not all updates are positive of course - Google had to withdraw its calorie burning counter - but hopefully, the upcoming changes will be better received.
