Jeff Grimes named new BYU offensive coordinator

Veteran offensive line coach Jeff Grimes is leaving LSU to become the new offensive coordinator at BYU, sources tell SI.

Head coach Kalani Sitake made it official Thursday morning after several media outlets including Fox 13 reported that the hire was imminent.

Grimes' next stop came in familiar Provo, where he served as offensive line coach for Gary Crowton for one year, then two seasons under Bronco Mendenhall.

Crude Oil Inventories Decline; Supply at 2018 Peak: IEA
For 2018 the IEA also reiterated its prior forecast for growth of 1.3 million barrels a day (1.4%) to a total of 98.9 million. November's OPEC reference basket jumped almost 10%, to average $60.74 a barrel, which is the highest level since June 2015.

Retail sales remain strong despite household pressures
Retail sales volume climbed 1.1 percent on a monthly basis in November, with strong contribution from households goods stores. The increase last month means sales will rise in the fourth quarter unless December sees a decline of more than 3 percent.

Google Home Max now on sale for $399
The Echo Dot competitor hit the market immediately, and the Home Max was given the decidedly more nebulous date of December. The far field microphone on the device allows Google Home Max to pick up voice commands from distant corners of the room.

Grimes coached the Cougar offensive line from 2004 to 2006. Grimes, a Texas native, joined LSU after the 2013 season following a one-year stay at Virginia Tech and a four-year run at Auburn. There's no telling if Detmer would even want to remain on the staff, but one would imagine he would if there was an offer. The inaugural early signing period begins next Wednesday, and the Tigers have four offensive linemen committed, including the top-ranked junior college tackle in Badara Traore.

This is the first time Grimes has served as offensive coordinator. It is still unknown if Detmer will have a role within the Cougar's offense for the 2018 season. The Tigers report back to school the day after Christmas on the 26th. But Ingram and Charles each developed well under Grimes as the season went on after rocky starts. LSU's offensive line has helped pave the way for four consecutive 1,000-yard rushers in each of Grimes' four seasons, including Leonard Fournette, who set the school's single-season mark with 1,853 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2015. Grimes is expected to coach the Tigers in the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame January 1st. Prior to BYU, Grimes was at Arizona State from 2001 to 2003 as the offensive line coach and running game coordinator.

He played football at UTEP from 1987-2000. His first two seasons in El Paso he was mentored by offensive line coach and current Kansas City Chiefs' head coach and former BYU Cougar Andy Reid. He and his wife, Sheri, have four children.
