Barkley to have Chelsea medical today

Everton manager Sam Allardyce admitted on Thursday that he was expecting to receive bids for Barkley before the close of the January window.

Barkley opted against leaving Everton while carrying a hamstring injury that has forced him to sit on the sidelines so far this season.

Sky Sports claim that Spurs are no longer in the race to sign the Everton midfielder as manager Mauricio Pochettino has turned his attention to other targets.

However, with Barkley out of contract at the end of the current season, Chelsea could land a bargain and the BBC reports that a fee of £15 million is likely to be paid.

Small plane crashes in Costa Rica, killing 12
The aircraft, which was carrying 2 pilots from Costa Rica, and 10 passengers, reportedly belongs to local Nature Air airline . Costa Rican authorities say a plane crash in Costa Rica on Sunday has killed 10 USA citizens and two crew members.

As stated by the Daily Mail, the fifth-placed side are said to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, who has struggled to find his way into Barca's starting XI with any regularity since the appointment of Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou.

"I would expect there would be [an offer] sometime in this window if there's going to be interest from one of the big boys", the Everton boss told a news conference ahead of Friday's match away to local rivals Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup.

Some of the Everton fans who were disappointed in his decision not to sign a new contract previous year will likely be happy to see him leave.

They will look to maximise the price of their homegrown talent, who joined the academy as an 11-year-old and has made more than 150 first-team appearances, but £15m seems to be a generous offer for a player they could lose for nothing in a few months.
