Fire reported on top floor of Trump Tower

The city's Fire Department said the blaze broke out at around 7am (noon GMT) on Monday, causing smoke to billow from the roof of the building which contains United States president Donald Trump's home and business offices.

The building was not evacuated and no injuries were reported. Mr Trump was not at the 58-storey tower.

A fire broke out on the roof of NYC's Trump Tower on the morning of Monday, Jan. 8.

However, two civilians and a firefighter are said to have sustained minor injuries from the blaze, which caused a large plume of dark smoke. There were no evacuations and no one was reported injured, the spokesman said.

First son Eric Trump, who is executive vice president on the Trump Organization, tweeted a statement shortly after the fire was extinguished.
