Nintendo got to show off Dark Souls: Remastered first for a reason

Nintendo, of course, will focus on the Switch versions of their various announcements, but as Kotaku report, a different studio is apparently focusing on PS4, Xbox One and, yes, PC versions of the remaster. Having already confirmed Dark Souls Remastered for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One, From Software and Bandai Namco will also be releasing a full Dark Souls Trilogy Box set.

PRAISE THE SUN! A remastered version of Dark Souls is coming to the Nintendo Switch to test your mettle and hollow out your gaming hours. You can choose to become a benevolent guide for others or push them to despair as you play through, which is one of the areas in which Dark Souls truly shines. It shows, in the most basic form, some of the improvements to come. The remastered version will be released on 25 May 2o18 with "improved framerate and resolution", according to Nintendo. In fact, FromSoft has done just that, and you'll be able to die again and again on your current generation platform of choice, including Nintendo Switch, starting May 25. There's no word yet on whether or not we'll see the Trilogy Box released outside of Japan, but we're hoping Dark Souls' global appeal has reached a point where shipping a few (thousand) Trilogy Boxes to Europe and North America makes sense. The Switch is getting new titles in the guise of Mario Tennis Aces, set for a spring launch, Kirby Star Allies, which will land 16 March, and brawler SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, slated for the summer. New graphics and lighting, natch, plus online upgrades to bring it to a similar player count as later games in the series.
