Raiders are going all in to try and bring back Jon Gruden

Oakland still has a coach (Jack Del Rio) under contract, but owner Mark Davis is said to be smitten with Gruden, who coached the Raiders from 1998-2001.

Even though Gruden has been hesitate in the past to return to coaching, he will have enough power within the organization that he can reshape the entire front office and coaching staff, though some holdovers still remain from his first time coaching the team.

The Oakland Raiders seem to be pulling all the stops in their attempt to extricate Jon Gruden from the broadcast booth and put him on the sidelines coaching again. One person he has reportedly considered as a quarterbacks coach is Rich Gannon.

Jon Gruden coached in Oakland for four good years, leading the Raiders to four consecutive.500-or-better seasons, including two playoff appearances and an AFC Championship. His first year with the Bucs saw him with the lone Super Bowl of his career, defeating none other than the Raiders. I take a lot from coaches, some others, yeah, sometimes owners.

Here's a bit more on why Gruden might be tempted to accept this position.

An ownership source said owners might not be so quick to approve the deal, because they wouldn't want to establish a precedent.

Cowboys WR Cole Beasley didn't travel with team to Philadelphia
Although Foles has done a solid job of filling the void, there is still plenty of work to be done before their first playoff game. His replacement, Nate Sudfeld , managed 134 passing yards off an 82.6 completion percentage, but he was also sacked three times.

Home and Away actress fighting for her life are fiery crash
Jessica appeared as Hope Morrison on Home and Away in 2016, and also on Underbelly: Badness and in stage plays. Further reports that Jessica and Annabelle were pulled from the wreckage by passers-by and police.

That hasn't happened, though, as the Raiders are 6-9 heading into their final game of the regular season. And there were the wacky rumors of Gruden going to Tennessee, which even involved a Knoxville BBQ joint apologizing for contributing to the rumors.

That would be mean the end of Jack Del Rio's tenure, who helped rebuild the Oakland franchise before this season's collapse amid numerous injuries and Marshawn Lynch's uneven play. But his connection with the Raiders and the fact that it was reported by Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson, Gruden's colleagues at ESPN, lend this one more credibility.

Coincidentally, Gannon will be calling the Raiders-Chargers game on Sunday.

Though he doesn't have coaching experience, it's hard to overlook the personal connection he has with Gruden.

Oakland's top brass must be growing frustrated of Del Rio's performance with the Raiders not making the playoffs for the second time in three years under Del Rio. But attempting to go back to the future with a retread coach isn't something that has proven to work in the National Football League in the past.
