Carter Page told George Stephanopoulos he never met Donald Trump

Both on Good Morning America and during an interview on Monday night's edition of Laura Ingraham's Fox News show, Page played up the significance of a recently released House Republican intelligence memo alleging the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign is rooted in anti-Trump bias among Obama-era officials.

"You can understand how that would raise questions and could lead to probable cause", Stephanopoulos said.

He is a former adviser to the Trump campaign, but his role has been minimized by those that worked on the campaign.

Page told ABC News he helped the Federal Bureau of Investigation in that case, and that none of the materials he shared with Russian nationals were sensitive.

Page's Russian contacts first drew the FBI's interest in 2013 and he was interviewed about his contacts with a Russian intelligence officer. Stephanopoulos also mentioned Page's relationship with Victor Podobnyy, who was later charged with working as a Russian intelligence agent under diplomatic cover.

Carter Page appears on "Good Morning America", Feb. 6. The cable described how he touted his work with the Russian-run company Gazprom. "He wanted to make the argument that we needed to look more positively at Russia's economic reforms and Russia's relationship with Central Asia", says the editor.

"I hope they get it", he said. I will feed him empty promises. He also said that he never had any interaction with Mr. Trump prior to any of the surveillance information coming out, and has not spoken with him at all during this process.
