Nokia 3310 gets a new 4G VoLTE variant

As mentioned above, the company is yet to reveal the pricing details of the Nokia 3310 4G variant. HMD has joined hands in collaboration with China Mobile to make Nokia 3310 4G available in the country.

The Nokia 3310 4G variant was spotted on TENAA some time back and after the initial leaks, the phone is now official in China.

Pricing and worldwide release dates have not been announced at this stage but expect to hear more at the end of February from MWC 2018. So far, we know it comes in two colour options - Fresh Blue and Deep Black - and is an upgrade from last year's Nokia 3310, which only supports and runs a Java-based Feature OS. The 3310 4G however switches to YunOS which is designed by tweaking Android OS developed by Chinese shopping giant Alibaba.

Both, the Nokia 3310 4G and the JioPhone comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display running at 320×240 pixels. The Nokia 3310's rock-bottom price tag could help it get a foothold in cities and provinces where citizens can't afford to buy the highest-priced smartphones.

The Nokia 3310 4G carries support for single micro-SIM card. The company has now launched a 4G LTE compatible variant of the Nokia 3310. The phone is powered by 256MB of RAM and has 512MB of storage expandable to 64GB with a microSD card.

It is available as an upgrade to the modernised Nokia 3310 that was launched in a 2G variant in India May a year ago. It has 2 meapixels rear camera with LED flash. The device boots YunOS and also has support for a web browser, which can be accessed by long-pressing the "0" key on the device. This smartphone supports 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi which can be used to create a hotspot and share the data connection with other devices. The phone is backed by a 1200mAh battery, and as per the website, the phone delivers up to five hours of talk time on the 4G network and 15 hours of talk time on the 2G network.

Perhaps we'll hear more about the 3310 4G at next month's Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show, where - in addition to 3310 news - we were promised to see something "awesome".
