Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: First Impressions

When Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the device was the first to be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 636 processor which is powerful as well as power efficient due to the inclusion of a semi-custom Kyro 260 CPU. Dinesh Sharma, Director of Asus India commented that Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is faster than Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. It will feature a fingerprint sensor and face recognition feature. The ZenFone Max Pro M1, just to be clear, is not an Android One phone like the Xiaomi Mi A1 or the Nokia 6 2018. It has a 2.5D arc-glass panel on its top. It has eight Kryo 260 cores which balance between performance and power efficiency. It has Adreno 509 GPU for graphics quality as well letting users enjoy seamless video and online games.

Asus' Max lineup of devices was always aimed at heavy battery users, and the tradition continues with the Zenfone Max Pro as it comes with a beefy 5000mAh unit. You can always add a microSD card to expand the storage.

Design-wise, Asus Zenfone Max Pro measures 159 x 76 x 8.61mm and weighs 180 grams including the battery. It packs in 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera that manages to capture depth of field, resulting in impressive bokeh images. On the front you get a 8-megapixel sensor with a soft light LED flash. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a 5000mAh. That being said, while both the smartphones look nearly similar in respect to the design, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a triple slot tray which can house two SIM cards along with a micro SD card slot at the same time, something which its Xiaomi counterpart can't boast about.

Connectivity options includes- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro-USB, Location, 3.5mm audio-jack, and 4G VoLTE. It has all the requisite sensors on board.
