Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Fox River Grove, Barrington and Barrington-Countryside fire departments assisted in the incident.

Spokeswoman Sara Farris said the fire was contained to the garage area, but that smoke damage affected other areas of the house.

Two dogs in the backyard of the burning home on the 2200 block of North Jackson Avenue were safely removed from the property.

The fire started on Gwynn Road and extended to Vesta Road.

Crews responded to a structure fire at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Hotel in White Hall Friday afternoon. Camanche Fire and the Clinton Police Department also assisted.
