Brother of Accused School Shooter Nikolas Cruz Arrested Again

Zachary Cruz was arrested and booked into the main detention center at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday night.

David Scharf, executive director of community programs for the Broward County Sheriff's Office, witnessed Saturday's alleged violations, according to the warrant.

Zachary Cruz was previously arrested for allegedly trespassing at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, where his 19-year-old brother, Nikolas Cruz, allegedly opened fire on students and faculty on Valentine's Day.

A Broward judge later placed him on a strict six-month probation that barred him from coming within a mile of the high school, or any school from which he was not enrolled.

Cruz was supposed to stay away from the campus of any school where he is not now enrolled, and at least a mile away from Stoneman Douglas, where his brother murdered 17 people and wounded 17 more on February 14.

The warrant says Cruz on April 28 drove without a valid license and was within 25 feet of a parking lot at a Lake Worth high school. Cruz was also subjected to sleep deprivation tactics and had to wear a restraint vest at all times, the group said.

After his March 19 arrest, Zachary Cruz reportedly told police that he had visited the high school, which he had previously attended, three times since the deadly massacre.

Kimok, the attorney representing Zachary Cruz in the trespassing charge, said it's unusual for probation to be violated for driving without a license and that his client isn't banned from being near a school, other than Marjory Stoneman Douglas.

"He was ordered not to actually go on any schools".

Attorneys for Nikolas Cruz have conceded he is the shooter and say he would plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence.

Also Wednesday, a nonprofit civil rights organization called Nexus Derechos Humanos said it is planning to file a federal lawsuit on Zachary Cruz's behalf challenging how he has been treated by law enforcement.
