'Last Man Standing' Coming Back? Tim Allen Says 'Stay Tuned'

Shortly after ABC canceled the series a year ago, critics questioned whether the show got the ax because of Allen's political views.

On Thursday, the 64-year-old Allen tweeted, "They heard all your voices people! Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed".

A source tells ET that Allen has signed a deal to bring back his hit series, this time on Fox, and negotiations are under way with the rest of the original cast and executive producers to join him. LMS just might be a reality", Allen wrote in a recent tweet."Keep it up.

20th Century Fox Television declined to comment.

Allen appeares to confirm the news on his Twitter account.

Allen, a conservative himself who has voiced his support for Trump, played Mike Baxter, who is also politically conservative on the show. The cancellation inspired a viral Change.org petition, which has collected more than 430,000 signatures.

Allen, for his part, asserted that ABC - the current home of ratings juggernaut Roseanne, a much-beloved sitcom about a Trump-supporting blue-collar matriarch and her family - was threatened by having a amusing successful show starring a conservative character.

While on Norm Macdonald Live in September, Allen remarked that, "There is nothing more unsafe to me, especially in this climate, than a amusing, likable conservative". "He is mitigated on the show by a family of women who had a difference of opinions, but [Mike Baxter] was a likable guy and a principled guy about work and ethics and all this stuff, I think".

In summer 2016, CMT was chewing on whether or not to rescue "Last Man Standing" from the depths of cancellation, but it was not meant to be.
