Prem Balram who is now on scene, said all three men are in a critical condition and were now being treated by paramedics.

Three men, believed to be Egyptian nationals, were reportedly responsible for the attack and fled the scene in a white Hyundai Getz. This kind of attack on three innocent people is totally unjustified.

IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst said: "IPSS can now confirm that the person with the slit throat unfortunately has passed away in hospital".

Witnesses at the scene claimed the men were Egyptian, and drove away in a Hyundai auto.

Police say two other people were badly wounded after unknown men entered a mosque in Verulam town near Durban city and stabbed three people.
