Wall Street braced for plummeting sales of Apple iPhone X

The iPhone X - Apple's tenth anniversary smartphone - was supposed to be the best yet, but it seems the public have been less-than-impressed by the phone's features and, more likely, its hefty price tag. Since then, more and more information has surfaced on what the company might add or remove from its next iPhones.

The rumored 6.1-inch iPhone for 2018 won't have 3D Touch functionality. The benefit of this new technology is that it will make the iPhone's display lighter and more resistant to impact. Eventually, however, the Apple analyst believes that it would only be a matter of time before 3D Touch is completely retired from the company's devices.

Apple previously launched a pair of truly wireless earbuds, the AirPods, that eliminate the need for a headphone port...assuming the iPhone owner wants to use the product. But Apple is planning to launch an update on the iPhone SE, most likely an iPhone SE 2, analysts suggest. But what we know is, the addition of it will raise the cost of the production of the iPhone display from $23 to $26 (15% increase).

According to the reports, 6.1in LCD model might not get the 3D touch because of the screen technology used in the phone.

"There are a lot of things that have to fall into place, but 3D Touch overall feels like one of those ideas that only Apple can push into the mainstream - if Samsung or Huawei had delivered a similar feature, it would nearly certainly be a gimmick". Other two model should have the 3D touch as they are OLED models using the same display technology. According to the analyst, 2018 would mark the beginning of the end for one of the iPhone's most unique features - 3D Touch.

A record-breaking expansion to Apple's capital returns scheme, set to be announced alongside its latest quarterly earnings this week, could help win over investors who have become preoccupied by concerns of a global slowdown in smartphone sales.
