Deal with St. Louis prosecutors led to Greitens' resignation

"Today I am announcing that I will resign as governor of Missouri effective Friday, June 1, at 5 p.m".

"I have been in contact with the Governor's defense team over the past several days", she said in a statement.

First, on January 10, he admitted to the world that he had an extramarital affair and denied associated claims that he blackmailed his mistress by allegedly photographing her in a compromising position and threatening to disseminate the image.

Greitens admitted to having the affair with the woman, his former hairdresser, in 2015 before becoming governor, but maintained he did not commit any crimes. The case was dismissed earlier this month and a special prosecutor in Jackson County is still considering whether to refile the charge.

Greitens, 44, was accused by an unnamed woman with whom he had an affair of sexual assault, using nude photos of her for blackmail, and violence. Greitens had faced possibly being impeached by the state House over investigations of his political and personal life.

Most recently a state House investigative committee has been attempting to collect information about another nonprofit organization with close ties to Greitens.

Lawmakers from both parties immediately began questioning whether Greitens could continue to lead the state. "I can't comment on what special prosecutor Jean Peters Baker will do", Gardner said at her press conference.

GOP and Democratic Senators attacked the deal as insufficient punishment for a company that defied USA sanctions policy. China retaliated by imposing additional tariffs worth about United States dollars three billion on 128 USA products.

Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge Gives Encouraging Update on Gordon Hayward's Return
The injury occurred in November when he was hit in the face by teammate Aron Baynes . However, Ainge doesn't want to see either player leave the Celtics this summer.

A tweet Krewson sent shortly after the governor's announcement thanking him for his service sparked backlash from St. Louisans and other Democratic officials who called her statement tone-deaf and unnecessarily tepid, citing the many scandals surrounding Greitens, including accusations of sexual and physical assault.

"The time has come though to tend to those who have been wounded and to care for those who need us most", Greitens said.

"No matter what they throw at me, no matter how painful they try to make it, no matter how much suffering they want to put me and my family through and my team through. we are going to step forward day after day after day, and we are going to continue in our mission to fight for the people of Missouri", Greitens said then.

Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner will dismiss a felony computer-tampering charge against Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens as part of an agreement reached with his attorneys, Gardner announced Wednesday. The second report focuses on allegations that Greitens wrongfully obtained a charity donor list to fundraise for political purposes. Her office charged him with tampering with computer data for allegedly disclosing the donor list without the charity's permission.

"It's clear that for the forces that oppose us, there is no end in sight", Greitens said. He declined to say whether he took a photo.

The governor was indicted in February with invasion of privacy, but the charge was dropped this month, with the proviso that it could be re-filed. But Gardner withdrew the charge when she could not avoid being called as a witness, making her position as prosecutor in the trial untenable. Some considered him a potential future presidential contender.

Greitens was elected governor in 2016, defeating Democrat Chris Koster 51-46 percent.
