‘Hopefully’ I’ll have meeting with Kim on June 12

The meeting at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom follows a meeting in NY between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and senior North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol where they discussed a potential summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Inside was a personal letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to Trump, to be hand-delivered by Kim's envoy - the second most powerful man in North Korea - Vice Chairman Kim Yong Chol.

The official, Kim Yong Chol, posed for photos with Trump outside the Oval Office, and they talked amiably at Kim's vehicle before he was driven away.

"We're going to deal", Trump told reporters moments after the meeting ended.

"At the rate the two political leaders are going, we can only say that the summit is confirmed when they actually arrive in Singapore". But since the president made that announcement, we've seen a flurry of diplomatic activity. In the past, Trump has emphasized this campaign of what he calls maximum pressure on North Korea.

"I don't even want to use the term "maximum pressure" anymore", Trump added, referencing his preferred term for the punishing USA economic sanctions against North Korea.

Kim said he hoped to find a "solution to meet the interests of each other through a new method in a new era and under a new situation and the solution of the issues will progress through effective and constructive dialogue and negotiation", the official Korean Central News Agency said.

Kim is expected to president a letter from Kim Jong Un (kim jawng oon), the North Korean dictator, to Trump.

Controversial ‘Active Shooter’ video game taken down from streaming site
A video game for a short time, it seems, the shooter recklessly pounding on civilians when they try to escape. Ten people were killed in a school shooting in Texas on May 18 by a heavily armed 17-year-old classmate.

Plans for the high-stakes sit-down in Singapore had been cast into doubt. But Trump also promised he would ensure security for both Kim and the North Korean regime if he does close down his nuclear weapons program.

But he said that, after what have now been two meetings with Kim Jong Un and three with Kim Yong Chol, he believes the North is at least ready to consider addressing United States demands for denuclearisation.

A senior official from the government of North Korea has arrived in NY. Separately, North and South Korea have also been talking about having talks of their own on reuniting families separated by the Korean War.

The historic meeting between Mr Trump and Kim Jong-un would be the first between sitting United States and North Korean leaders. "He'd like to see it happen", Trump said. As many as 200,000 North Korean citizens who have committed no crime are held without any semblance of due process in labor camps where they face starvation, torture, backbreaking labor, a daily fear of execution, and no chance of release or escape. General Kim Yong-Chol landed in the USA the mid-afternoon of Wednesday on board an Air China flight from the Chinese capital of Beijing.

President Donald Trump on Friday talked warmly to reporters about the "very nice" and "very interesting" letter he received earlier in the day from North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un.

"It's a process", the president said.

According to KCNA, Kim Jong-un and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov came to an agreement in Pyongyang. "As we move to adjust to the political situation in the face of USA hegemonism, I am willing to exchange detailed and in-depth opinions with your leadership and hope to do so moving forward", Kim told Sergey Lavrov.

SIMON: Quick question. I've got to add, Scott, President Trump spent more than an hour in the Oval Office with one of Kim Jong Un's top deputies, former spy chief of North Korea. But in March, the bellicose rhetoric gave way to a proposal for a historic summit.
